I’m not usually the biggest fan of trends, but matcha somehow managed to creep its way into becoming one of my favourite beverages.
Whether its hot or cold, I somewhat enjoy the grass-like flavour and how it doesn’t make me as jittery as coffee. Maybe it’s also that feeling of healthy that it gives you (I don’t add sugar btw). Who knows.
As a result, you best believe I’ve run around Het Gooi, and beyond, trying different matchas.
In this blog though I will focus on where you can drink a pretty good matcha in Hilversum.
This place is my go-to for quite some time now. It’s a cute little take-away shop in the heart of the city.
Whenever I’m craving matcha on the run, I go here and satisfy my cravings. Sometimes I’ll also opt for a classic boba. I know they have an elaborate menu, but I’m a simple creature and the classics never fail.
As mentioned above, it’s mostly a take-away concept even though they do have a stool or two. I recommend going there if you want to walk around with your matcha drink, or take it home.

The new kid in town. I actually have a Wakuli branch right next to my workplace in Oud-Zuid, so I was already familiar with their products and cause.
As the simpleton I am, I’ve tried so far their classic matcha and it’s a solid choice. I’ve yet to try the fancy combos, but I will eventually get there.
I’d dare say that coffee is their specialty, to the point that they sell their own coffee too, and offer subscriptions. I actually know a few people who used to go from Hilversum to one of their Amsterdam branches to buy their coffee beans.
They have a noble mission, which is to support farmers and take care of the planet. Worth checking them out.

Sugar & Spice
This is such a cute spot. It’s located right behind the Hilversum train station and you literally cannot miss it. It’s all pink!
You can enjoy your matcha to-go or inside their Instagrammable interior. The owner is a very sweet woman who offers a pretty wide range of combos for iced coffe, matcha, etc.
There’s also the chance to enjoy their realistic fruit pastries, ice cream, and other sweet treats. If you’re a sweet tooth, then this place is definitely for you.
A nice location to hangout with your girlfriends.

This is another favourite location of mine. In fact, I already talked about 30ml and how I like their matcha here.
Since writing that post, however, I’ve taken the plunge and tried their iced mango matcha. It’s become now my standard order I like it so much. The matcha flavour goes really well with the mango, it’s also creamy.
Don’t sleep on this place.

Another colourfully familiar face.
As I already said, their matcha game is strong. I don’t think I’ve ever seen the beverage with coconut water before, but it’s really nice and refreshing.
Really cute interior overall, colourful food and drinks, I don’t want to repeat myself ;P Read the linked article for a full review.

I won’t lie, I thought I was tripping when I first read that Eazie offered iced matcha.
So of course I tried it and wasn’t left disappointed. As per usual I tried a classic version of the drink and it was pretty good. Price wise, it’s also on the more affordable side (I believe I paid 5 euros).
They also have strawberry and spicy mango options, I might try one of them next time I’m there. Fun fact, my favourite order at Eazie is their salmon pokebowl.
Update: I got around to trying their spicy mango iced matcha. If you love spicy, or are used to it, you will really enjoy this drink. Honestly, I underestimated it so the first sip was a total surprise, in a good way of course. The spiciness doesn’t overwhelm the drink, but you will feel it mildly throughout the drink. The heat of the spice combined with the mango really gives the drink an interesting depth flavour-wise. Very cool!

In Conclusion..
I’m aware that I might be missing some other locations, for example Your Coffee, but I’ll eventually get there.
Unfortunately, I only have one stomach ;(
Till next time!!
